Whatever happened to Short Round and Willy Scott after Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom?

It was never explained, as they were central to the Indiana Jones sequel. Never mentioned again in Last Crusade OR Crystal Skull?

Indiana Jones' movies are not immediately sequential in that it is assumed that Indiana Jones has a bunch more adventures in between Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade, and it is obvious that much time has past between Last Crusade and Crystal Skull. The writers did not feel that it is necessary to continue with Short Round and Willy Scott's roles in other movies since they were not the main character. They wanted to create new side kicks for Indiana Jones so that they can show his different interactions with other characters, especially since he is a world traveler.
